Awareness Session on the Child Protection Act at PIMS Islamabad

Sustainable Social Development Organization and the Child Protection Institute, Ministry of Human Rights, organized an awareness session on the Child Protection Act at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, Islamabad. The session was attended by a diverse group of health care professionals, including doctors, nursing staff and nursing students, who were briefed on the working of the Child Protection Institute. The CPI team discussed in-depth the mechanism of the institute, as well as the Child Protection Act 2018. They then briefed the audience on identifying signs of child abuse, the steps that healthcare professionals and first responders can take in such instances, and the resources available for help. Afterwards, SSDO held an interactive discussion with the audience where they deliberated on the challenges faced during medico-legal examination of child abuse cases. Finally, CPI Director General Rabeea Hadi gave her concluding remarks and presented certificates to the audience.
