Governor KP Calls For Whole-of-government, Whole-of-society Approach To Counter Extremism
ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Jun, 2026) Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Thursday emphasized the need for a coordinated whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach to effectively counter terrorism, terrorist financing and violent extremism in Pakistan.
The Governor expressed these views during his visit to the headquarters of the Sustainable Social Development Organization (SSDO) here on the occasion of the organization’s 10th anniversary.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said he was pleased to witness the important work being carried out by SSDO in strengthening efforts against terrorism, terrorist financing and violent extremism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and across the country.
He said terrorism and violent extremism remained complex challenges that extended beyond security concerns and affected social cohesion, economic development and public trust in state institutions.
He stressed that addressing these issues required informed policymaking, strong institutions and active community participation in addition to law-enforcement measures.
Kundi lauded SSDO’s engagement with parliamentarians and other stakeholders to support CT, CFT and CVE initiatives, saying that its efforts to enhance awareness, strengthen policy dialogue and promote evidence-based decision-making were helping institutions respond more effectively to evolving security threats.
The Governor underscored the importance of coordinated national action, saying that sustainable peace could not be achieved by any single institution alone.
He called for effective coordination among Federal, provincial and local authorities through information-sharing and joint action.
He also highlighted the role of civil society organizations, educational institutions, religious scholars, media, youth, women and local communities in addressing the root causes of extremism and promoting tolerance, inclusion and resilience.
Kundi said collective efforts and sustained collaboration were essential to counter extremist narratives and build a safer, more peaceful and prosperous future for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Pakistan.
On the occasion, SSDO Executive Director Syed Kausar Abbas thanked the Governor for his visit and reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to working with national and provincial stakeholders to strengthen Pakistan’s CT, CFT and CVE frameworks through research, capacity building and strategic engagement.
